“Reps build valid quotes on the first try. Our pricing policy is enforced automatically—and customers get proposals the same day.”
A global High Tech OEM with a mixed catalogue—hardware, services and subscriptions—struggled with spreadsheet quotes, opaque discounts, and long approval cycles. Each region priced differently and deal desks were overwhelmed. Cloud in India was engaged to design and build a Salesforce CPQ app that standardised bundles, automated pricing/approvals and produced error-free proposals. Objectives: (1) implement guided selling with dynamic bundles, (2) enforce pricing policy and margin guardrails, (3) automate quote-to-contract with e-signature, and (4) integrate ERP for availability and fulfillment data.
We delivered in three iterative waves to land value quickly and de-risk complexity:
Foundation: Product model, attribute rules, price books, discount schedules, quote templates and approval matrix.
Scale: Guided selling flows, advanced bundle logic (compatibility, inclusions/exclusions), SLA-based approvals and multilingual templates.
Integrate & Automate: Real-time ERP calls for ATP/lead times, tax & shipping estimations, CLM for contracts, and webhook notifications to downstream fulfilment.
Pillars: Catalogue, Pricing, Approvals, Documents, Integrations, Insights.
Why it works: Reps quote only valid combinations at protected margins; leaders get consistent governance; customers receive clear, accurate proposals fast.
1) Product Catalogue & Bundling: Configurable bundles with attribute-driven rules (compatibility, dependency, quantity ranges); attachable warranty & service add-ons.
2) Pricing Engine: List, contracted and partner pricing; block pricing & tiers; cost+ margin floors; stackable promotions; usage/seat-based proration for subscriptions.
3) Approval Automation: Threshold-based approvals by discount %, margin %, non-standard terms; parallel approvals for Finance & Legal; SLA timers and escalation paths.
4) Document Generation: Multi-section quote & SOW templates with dynamic T&Cs; regional currencies & taxes; e-signature integration to capture acceptance.
5) ERP & Billing Integration: Availability, lead time and serialisation from ERP; order creation; hand-off to billing/subscriptions for invoicing and renewals.
6) Analytics: Dashboards for win rate by segment, discount leakage, cycle time, attach rates (services/warranty), and renewal uplift.
7) Enablement & Governance: CPQ playbooks, pricing policy, catalogue change control, and admin runbooks for rapid SKU/price updates.
• Quote speed: Median quote creation time reduced from 2 hours to 12 minutes via guided selling and templates.
• Margin protection: 9–14% reduction in uncontrolled discounting using margin floors and smart approvals.
• Win rate: +7 pts in complex deals with bundled offers and clear value packaging.
• Deal desk workload: −45% tickets by shifting standard approvals to automated paths.
• Accuracy: 0 rework on BOM and T&Cs for standard deals in the first quarter post-launch.
